Do It Yourself Photo Booth

With only eight days (and that is being generous) to plan my sister’s wedding, she asked me to help capture the evening.  Luckily, my cousin is a much better photographer than myself, was there and took the formal pictures.  I had this crazy idea to do something like this or this to give to the bride and groom to remember the guests.

So, here is how I did it.

I went up to Party Galaxy and found a Soda Shop wall wrap.

I found a location at the reception site that was in the middle of the action, but where there was a little bit of room.  We decided to do it on the back patio.  I taped about 5 feet of the wall wrap up and set up one chair in the middle.

At the party I told the guests to get their picture take at the “photo booth”.  People loved it.  The mingled about and as their turn approached they found their date, their parents, themselves….etc. and smiled for 4 pictures…one right after the other.

Since it was my sisters wedding and I really didn’t want to man the booth all night, I waited until just after the garter and bouquet toss to make the announcement…then I hung outside for about 30 minutes…then I moved on with my night.

My main suggestion is to take the pictures from the same distance with the same general frame….AND….photo booth pictures are vertical.

Here is what the pictures looked like….

Then I created a template 800 pixels x 3000 pixels with a black background on Photoshop.  I cropped the pictures into 500 x 600 rectangles and put them each on a white background.  Then I added them each to the black template.

I added >texture >grain >15 to each layer…..added a pink strip to and a flower to keep with the invitation theme and voila….

I really didn’t count on the amount of time this would take after the actual event, but I love how they turned out and the camaraderie they created at the party!!!!  Overall, it was a fun project.
