I love April Fool’s Day. I like it for a lot of reasons. First of all it is the only day of the year I don’t have to feel too bad for my extreme sarcasm. I also like it because it is the first day of April….my birthday month. But, my love for this random holiday dissipated a few years ago….geee….probably 13 or 14 years ago. I was a freshman in college and I was dating Law Man. Anyway….I “broke up” with him. He was in college 90 minutes from my college and I just went on with my day thinking I was so funny. That night I called him and he was furious. He obviously did not get my sense of humor. Needless to say, it was almost the end of that relationship and the Bliss I live in now.
I still enjoy April Fool’s Day, but from a distance. I have learned that I am harsh and have a dark sense of humor….people don’t always think it is funny. In fact, sometimes apparently they think I am being mean. I don’t know…that is just how I am. *please note the sarcasm*
I did get a good laugh when Law Man called me this morning and told me to go to the Google homepage. This is what I found….
I love it!!! Who doesn’t love Topeka???? To get the full scoop read here. And who knew Google has had a whole host of April First Hoaxes? This is my favorite….
Google Book Search Scratch and Sniff
Google Book Search has a new section allowing users to “scratch and sniff” certain books. Users are asked to “…please place your nose near the monitor and click ‘Go’”, which then “loads odors”. When clicking on “Help”, users are redirected to a page in a book that describes the origins of April Fools’ Day.[5]
I am still laughing. I love Google!!!! You have to appreciate their sense of humor.
One last April Fool’s Day story.
Lawman is sitting on the bottom of the stairs and the Older Boy is trying to climb up on his head…..mind you my children are fairly large kids….the older one is a good 50 pounds.
Lawman, “What are you doing?”
“I am doing a trick,” he says as he continues to try to climb on his head….not shoulders…head.
“You are going to hurt me,” Lawman says.
“I have socks on and I have to do a trick,” he replies with all sincerity.
“No, seriously, get off me.”
“My teacher said I have to do tricks on my parents for April Fool’s!”
You have to appreciate their literal minds!
What is your favorite April Fool’s Trick?
