Unapologetic

I met up with Law Man last night for an event celebrating and raising money for Oklahoma Lawyers for Children.  I rushed up to his office after a day of running kids around, a dental appointment….two fillings, drop off, pick up, “mommy find my eyeball bouncy ball”, “I’m hungry”, “I DON’T WANT A BABYSITTER!”

I arrive, plans have changed, I am not sure if what I am wearing is appropriate (business attire for me means something completely different than it used to), and my mouth hurts!!!  Law Man is exhausted and he has not eaten all day.  We head out.  Again, a great event.  The Magnolia Building was beautiful.  The sunset was amazing…as soon as the sun was low enough not to be shining in our eyes.  The entertainment was….very unique and very entertaining.  They danced and contorted themselves in ways I did not know was even possible and we had front row seats.

Needless to say, a long day, but very worth while.  We jet out of there as soon as we feel it is at all appropriate and rush to relieve the sitter who was out walking our dog that apparently felt neglected.  We did not have time to run back by the office and get my car….the plan is to get it in the morning.

So, this morning arrives way too early.  The boys are fussy and my mouth still hurts.  We realize the oldest left his bag in my car that is at the office.  So, plan X or Y or Z…I am not really sure at this point.  We drive up to office, I grab pack throw it into the car and snatch the little guy out of his car seat.  This exchange takes 45 seconds, max.  Here is the rub….an old rusty Camaro pulls up behind us and sits there revving up his engine trying to get us to “hurry up.”  I wave and make a coy face mouthing “I’m sorry” and then…..I crack!

What am I sorry about?  I am doing the best I can to keep up with my children, the husband’s career, community projects all while wearing Spanx to hide the remainder of the baby bulge and makeup to conceal the sleepy eyes.

So, Here’s to you Mr. Engine Revving Dude…..I am sorry.  I am sorry I had the displeasure of running into you today.  I am sorry your mother never taught you any manners.  I am sorry that my children had to witness the worst in society while tired and not sure they want to go to school today.  But most of all, I am sorry that you and too many other people go to work everyday and forget that someone is raising the children that will one day be paying taxes that will eventually probably have to contribute to your health care and other basic needs.  By the way…..GET A MUFFLER!

Back to the more important issue at hand.  Kudos to Oklahoma Lawyers for Children and all the work you do for the children of this area.

I *heart* my bike

I love my bike.  I don’t get to ride nearly as much as I would like to, but I think that is going to change.  So, in honor of “fall”ing back in love with my favorite mode of transportation…..I saw this bike in Vancouver, BC and THIS is what I want to do to my bike.  I just need to decide on the colors.

Yes….that is yarn.  Only, I am planning to knit a good part of my bike…not just wrap.  I need to get on this soon before the boys start insisting that I act like a “normal” mom.  :)

What falls our of yours?????

Seriously, I laugh every time I open the dryer and more random things fall out.  It is my little guy….he is always stuffing his pocket with everything he comes across and I am not motivated….too lazy…… to check every pocket in every size 2T shorts/pants that cross my path.

Here is today’s find…..

Yes….those are two snail shells and one skin looking thing of something that I am sure was near the snail shells.  Don’t worry…..I still counted the clothes as CLEAN!

Harn Park Centennial

I have spent an inordinate amount of time working on a project that I am very excited about.  The park in my neighborhood was given to the city 100 years ago this year.  So, my first thought…..Throw A Party!  That is always where my mind seems to go, but I can’t think of a better thing to celebrate.

I mentioned what was supposed to be a pretty small gathering for the neighbors around the park to the Neighborhood Association and people were SO EXCITED.  It has blown up to a community event complete with food, drink, a band, yard games, and an art display.

I have a great group of people helping me out and I hope to get a lot of really great pictures to share.
