We Made It!!!

We did it…..together we did it.  25 posts in 25 days really didn’t seem like a big deal when I proposed it…..but, let me tell you, it has been an adventure.  Thank you all for your participation!!!!

Now, you have 25 hours to comment, link, and Like and then I will draw a winner.  Good Luck!

Happy Birthday Cakie

23 years ago today Mary Parker Brown made her grand entrance into this world.  I was ten years old…well, almost, 9 years and 3 months.  I remember when mom and dad told us we were going to have a new baby.  I vividly recall the day my grandmother picked us up from Taft Elementary, took us home, forced us to eat skillet burgers, and finally drove us up to meet our sister.  I remember not wanting to hold her because I was sure I would break her.  I especially remember my mom acting so confident that she knew exactly what she was doing with this little baby.  Then, Mary needed a diaper change and just as the diaper was removed she wet all over mom’s bed.  Memories…..and we have made so many more in the past 23 years….Happy Birthday MPB!

Do Not Try This at Home

So, remember that sweet post about family game night.  Well, fast forward a week or so and picture me at my computer….posting one of these 25 posts I am sure….Little Guy enters the room whimpering.

Me:  “What’s Wrong?”

LG:   Points to his face.

Me:  “Did you bump?”

LG:  Shakes head, “Noooo”

Me:  “What happened?”

LG:  Sticks finger up nose.

Me:  “Did you stick something up your nose?”  (How did I guess?  I pulled a crayon he broke off in his nose a month or so ago…..he had a similar look.)

LG:  Shakes head up and down.

Me:  “Did you stick a bean up your nose?”

LG:  Shakes head up and down.

I look…nothing.

I get a flashlight and sure enough…a bean (thank goodness now they are plastic) from Spill the Beans.

I find some tweezers and can’t reach it.  Then, I tell him to lie down and I gently stick the tweezers up and extract the bean.

FAQ:

What did you do to convince him to stay calm?…..well, I gave him the choice of staying calm and allowing me to get the bean out or we could go to the hospital where they would get it out somehow.  He stayed calm.

Why did you decide to do this yourself?…..I had to pick up his older brother from Running Club three minutes after the crisis.  I didn’t think the ER was an option.

Moral of the story:  Do not stick foreign objects up your nose.

Spill the Beans

My boys are finally really into games and are old enough (for the most part) to enjoy a good Family Game Night.  So, Law Man had worked some crazy hours and requested a night at home with the family…..my first thought was…..okay, you enjoy yourselves, I am going out.  (Before you judge, please remember that while Law Man is working, I am home spending “quality and quantity time” with the boys.  I should also mention that they had an invite to spend the night with grandma and papa.)  Then, I gathered myself together and organized dinner out at one of the boys favorite places and game night.

First stop, Grand House, an amazing Chinese restaurant and the only place in town that the boys can get Pizza WITH French Fries.  On Friday nights there is a band….Little Guy and Law Man stole the show.

Then, we played Spill the Beans…we had such a good time.  It was so funny to see how the family dynamics all came out in a seemingly simple game.

We struggled with the sleepy whines as we played the Ladybug Game.

All and all, it was a great evening and well worth passing up the boys invite to the grandparent’s house.  No worries….they saw the grandparents that Sunday.

My New Little Secrets

I am not a huge shopper.  I like to buy…not necessarily shop.  Don’t worry….that is not my secret.  I like to find unique things that will enhance my home, wardrobe, gifts, etc.  I will spend the extra money if I know I am getting a pretty good deal and I love it.  So, when I found out about Gilt.com and OneKingsLane.com I was instantly intrigued.  I joined both groups and I have to say….I *heart* them both.

I have ordered several things from Gilt….I have been pleased with service and quality.  I have not ordered anything from OKL….I just found them the other day, but I can assure you, I will.

Check them out and tell me what you think!  Oh yes,if you are wondering, there is an App for both of these sites.
