For the first time in Feb we did class only party for Alexander, like you with friends from school, church, neighbors etc…it can get nuts! I am also in the same boat at Katy-cold weather=indoor party and limited guests. It’s tough but I think having your child make the guest list is a good idea. I wouldn’t let hurt feeling ruffle your feathers. That’s just the way it is. Most grown ups should know that! It looks like you did a great job, tell Adam Happy Birthday!

Love the idea that you set aside time together weekly. It’s all too easy to get wrapped up in the tedious parts of the after-school-busy-ness. Thanks for sharing.

Birthday Parties can get massively out of control. Here is my procedure: ask child who they want to come. Fill in a name if there is a horrible, glaring left out best friend name. Call it good. I never want to hurt feelings but I also am not a millionaire. With the December birthday boy we have to have the party somewhere. Cold weather, rowdy boys, and a house decked out for Christmas do NOT mix. Our number is then usually dictated by the cost per child or number included in party price.
I am thinking of scaling back even more this year and having Zan invite 3 friends to do something special. (3 being the number of extra kids my Honda Pilot can transport)…

No Judgement here! I always feel at major loose ends when the kids are back in school. After having mine with me 24/7 all summer I am especially feeling the three hours a day by myself. It is sooo welcome. But- I am also a little stuck on how to spend it. I have been going running and then cleaning, doing yardwork, etc. but then I am a literal zombie with no energy by 1:30 in the afternoon. Had to lay down again today. Why is balance so hard to achieve?

So fun, Amy. Mac had a not-s0-perfect first day, but we’re not giving up. Actually, Mac says he is giving up, but I think we’ll all feel better after Legos and a good night sleep.
